What would happen if the steel cables on King's Island's slingshot ride broke?

I imagined that the little ball would fly into the air and land in the middle of a forest or something. I haven't studied physics or anything like that but I imagine the impact itself wouldn't kill the people inside-- the steel ball and cushions would lessen the force exerted on the body. I was wondering if the people inside would sustain internal injuries due to the force (since I think it'd be something like a car crash, only a lot stronger) or whether or not they'd just die on impact. I know this is kind of a morbid question but after riding it, I started thinking about it.
